Geotechnical Infrastructure Resilience of Near-Coastal Arid Regions

Climate change poses significant challenges to the resilience of geotechnical structures, including foundations and retaining walls. My research focuses on soils in arid climates near coastal zones, which are especially vulnerable to sea level rise. This rise threatens to undermine geotechnical resilience and alter the mechanical and chemical properties of the soil. Through modeling and laboratory experiments, my project aims to examine the impact of extreme weather events, such as heavy precipitation, on this type of soil. My goal is to contribute to the development of infrastructure robust enough to withstand changing climate patterns and frequent extreme rainfall events.
